We are pleased to announced the North Coast Energy Forum is on again!
The North Coast Energy Forum was established in 2010 to drive the shift to a sustainable energy system for the NSW North Coast. Every year over 100 representatives of industry, government and the community come together to plan how to make this shift happen, strengthen the regional economy; and increase our regional energy security as well as lowering greenhouse emissions.
For the fifth time since the first Forum in Belligen in 2010, we will bring together decision-makers from government, business and the community to work on creating a sustainable energy system for our region.
This year the theme is “The local energy revolution: Solar plus batteries plus us”. Our focus is on how solar and batteries are revolutionising the energy system from a centralised to a localised model in which power returns to the people. The key questions are: How can we, in the mid North Coast, play an active part in this shift? What are the opportunities for my local community, business or organisation?
Alongside the Forum we will be holding a free battery expo with products from the main makers and local suppliers.
Coffs Harbour City Council, NSW Office for Environment & Heritage, and North Coast TAFE are the major sponsors for the 2016 Forum. In line with our tradition of holding the forum in a different part of the north coast each year, this year’s event will be held in Coffs Harbour, at the Coffs Harbour Showground.
Sponsorship is now open for …
Sponsorship for the 2016 forum is now open. If you are interested in sponsoring, please read on.
The North Coast Energy Forum brings together a wide range of stakeholders with a shared interest in developing a comprehensive strategy for transitioning the North Coast to a sustainable energy system, including increasing the amount of local energy generation, storage and encouraging energy conservation and efficiency. This transition will help to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions whilst growing local economies and employment and also supporting community empowerment, leadership, learning and cohesion.
Previous forums in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 have combined keynote addresses by industry experts, panels on energy themes, workshops and plenaries. Both Forums (each with approximately 100 attendees) have culminated in identifying shared priorities to support meaningful action and change. This successful format will be replicated at this year’s forum.
